The following website would be very useful to teachers
because it provides some cool activities and a variety of lesson plans for many
strands. This website would be helpful as well because math is not looked upon
as an exciting subject for some students, so these games and lessons would add
a bit of excitement to the classroom. Students are familiar with traditional
homework checks and the same routine over and over again. Providing different
methods of teaching and routines in the classroom will get students excited and
will change the mood/tone within the classroom environment.
Great website! Thanks for sharing. I think these are great ideas for the classroom, and teachers should definitely change it up. Have you come across any interesting ideas for at-home practice? It's a great start to making math fun in the classroom, but math is a subject that requires a lot of practice. How can we ensure that students remain excited when they get home to do their individual practice?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, I have not come across to many things that students can use at home other than a game called Zap It using popsicle sticks (can be used for variety of strands). One of my former teachers showed me that Pinterest has many activities that students can do inside or outside the classroom. To get students excited and enjoy math outside the classroom I would say we need to make math class fun and engaging rather than just having students do textbook work all class, and show them how math relates to the outside world.
ReplyDeleteGreat website! It's always helpful to be able to build a collection of resources online. I have a few friends that just received LTO's and I'll be sure to pass this resource along. We're lucky to live in the time that we do because there's so much made available to us. I really don't know how teachers before us got by. We're truly blessed to be able to integrate web resources and technology into our classrooms! Along with this, having such a wide variety of sources enables us to better differentiate. Because there are such a variety of learners and the resources online provide excellent ways to make sure everyone is being supported.
