Big #'s!

This is interesting to look at.  Could be a great overhead, or document camera projection while entering the class.

One googolplex = The number 1 followed by a googol zeros (there literally isn't enough room in the universe to write this number).
While not really a number, ‘infinity’ refers to a limitless quantity and is represented by a symbol that looks like the number 8 placed on its side.

  1. Cool facts, Matt! The universe is pretty big, hopefully someone could write small enough to fit 1 googolplex in it ;). Although I'm sure it would take quite a while!

  2. This is cool! I'm definitely showing this to my class. On second thought, I can only imagine how many times I'm going to hear "But Teacher, this will take me a googolplex hours".

  3. I've seen something similar before where a teacher had her students (and students from other classes) draw a given number of dots each on a long piece of white paper. Then, when everyone's dots were added to the paper, they had one million dots, so the students could visualize what one million looks like. It was a great way for students to visualize a number that we can usually never see in a concrete way.
