This is definitely an excellent website to use especially when trying to find creative ways to get students to gain those rote learning skills (along with the critical thinking). I can really see this being used effectively as part of a differentiated instruction tool set as it's definitely a good engagement piece and a great option for students who need an extra boost.
ReplyDeleteI have only seen coolmath used in my supply teaching work so far, and although I think it can be a very useful tool, I also think it needs to be monitored. For instance I think teachers need to look at the games themselves to get an idea of what is useful. So many times I've walked by students playing games on there, and to be honest, the math they are using to play the games isn't very evident!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think there are some good games that reinforce skills on the site, however, there are quite a few that don't!
