Some interesting points of view that not only affect our students but we as teachers too.

What have you done to cope with math anxiety, either as a student or for your students?

  2. This is a great concern with many students in math. Most of the students I tutor have told me that experience fear during math tests and I think this is for sure math anxiety. I think this much related to the personality of the student and their sensitivity when they perform this activity in public. Some students don’t fill confortable when they have to answer in front of the other peers. However, math anxiety is more present to students who already are less skilled and have gaps in mathematics. We as teacher would have to help this category of students by building up their confidence level. We needed to work more with my students on trying to reduce their math anxiety. One of the methods is to the students to see what they think will help them to reduce their own math anxiety. We would have to know their feelings when they are frustrated, when they experience fear and pressure and when they are relaxed.
