Some of our friends in the north have done some excellent work creating practice EQAO tests within the provincial Learning Management System (LMS). These quizzes are all based on previous years EQAO tests and are loaded with links to multimedia learning objects on the Ontario Educational Resource Bank (OERB). Best of all, the quizzes are self-marking (I can hear all the oohhs and aahhs), they provide immediate feedback to students and yes, they are available for free! Get in contact with your board eLearning Contact (eLC) to use these excellent resources. They are available for Grade 3, 6 and 9!
A big shout out to those teachers, and eLCs from Near North District School Board who put these together!
Here is a screen capture of one of the quizzes.
This is a great idea for those students who get nervous about the tests. They can take a peek so to speak at what it's going to be like to help them build confidence. Of course the practice doesn't hurt either!
ReplyDeleteI tutor a grade 3 student who has a learning disability and has high anxiety with testing. Since the EQAO is coming up, I printed off tests from previous years and each time we meet we complete a couple questions. I teach him different strategies and key words to look for in the questions that way he is familiar to these types of questions when he needs to write. I will have to try this electronic version next time.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I'm preparing my Grade 6's for their EQAO test in a week. This is such a wonderful resource I can have them practice and move at their own pace and work on areas they need to review individually. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
